Bike Fitting

We are all different in our physical make up, and for a similar height, inseam, arm and torso length can vary considerably, resulting in a different bike fit.

To maximise cycling efficiency, minimise negative influences on the body, and to maximise comfort, correct fit and set up of the bike is crucial.
Boneshakers utilises Bikefitting.com, which involves taking detailed customer measurements to produce the optimum frame measurements and positioning of saddle, stem and bars. This is then used to identify the best fit from a specific brand(s).

So far so good. Bike set up however goes further beyond this static assessment. With the launch of new shoe and saddle fitting systems from Specialized we are able to address foot alignment and saddle issues.

Again we all differ in the natural arch of our feet, which effects the alignment of our hip/knee and foot. If left uncorrected power loss, pain and injury can result.
The Specialized Body Geometry shoes along with footbed inserts can correct any misalignments.
At Boneshakers we will be able to accurately assess your requirements and check the final alignment with you cycling on the bike on a turbo trainer.

Finally, saddle fit. Choosing the correct saddle is important to ensure a firm flat seating area that will correctly support your weight and reduce or eliminate problems with numbness and blood flow reduction. Again through the Specialized Body Geometry processes we can accurately measure and fit your saddle.

How to arrange a fitting

Simply give us a call to arrange an appointment. If you have already decided to buy a bike with us we do not charge for this process. If you simply want a fitting and to take away the relevant prints, then we charge £40. If you subsequently buy a bike from us then this is refunded. We are not offended if you just want the fitting! Remember to bring your cycling gear, shoes and pedals if you already have them.

If you are buying a bike, we will have it fully set up for you and will be happy to tweak the settings and make any changes, including the stem once you have had a chance for a few rides.
